How to get Future Stars cards
SBCs and objectives (FUTWIZ, 12 October)
| Item | Type | Reward | Time left on 12 Oct |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carlos Espí | Player SBC | Future Stars Carlos Espí (85) | About 4 days |
| EFL Championship Future Stars Pick | Player pick SBC | 1 of Fer López, Will Lankshear, Othmane Maamma or Divine Mukasa | About 5 days |

FUTWIZ shows Lankshear and Maamma at 84 in the pick. We don't print SBC costs; the cheapest solutions are on FUTWIZ SBCs. [CONFIRM IN GAME: Claire Hutton objective expiry on the Objectives screen.]
EA says more Player SBCs and Puzzle SBCs will follow through the promo, so check back each evening.

Can Future Stars cards be upgraded?
Yes. EA confirmed on 9 October that FC 27 Future Stars items upgrade on real-world performances. In short (EA):
- In most leagues, 4 league starts gives +1 OVR (up to 86) and 8 starts gives another +1 OVR (up to 87).
- Attackers and midfielders get a PlayStyle+ at 7 goals plus assists and 5★ weak foot at 10.
- Defenders, keepers and CDMs get the same at 4 and 7 clean sheets.
- NWSL, MLS, Liga MX and LPF players have lower targets.
- Only domestic league matches count, and the upgrades go live on 3 February 2027.
That's a change from what we said before launch, when past games pointed to a non-upgrading promo. For both tables, the fallbacks and what to look for in a card, see Future Stars upgrades explained.
What ended with Destined for Glory
EA's Destined for Glory window closed on 9 October. The Akliouche and Tarciane DFG SBCs are no longer on FUTWIZ's SBC list. Your DFG cards keep upgrading through the domestic season (EA); follow them on the FUTWIZ DFG Tracker and in the DFG Team 2 live hub.
The TOTW Upgrade SBC is back as a TOTW 1 to 4 pack, with about 4 days left on 12 October (FUTWIZ); see the TOTW 4 hub. The Max 86 Base Hero Upgrade SBC has about 2 days left; see our Max 86 Base Hero guide.
The Season 10: Pre-Season carryover was due on 9 October (EA). If yours hasn't arrived, see the carryover wave 2 guide.
What to do this week
Run the Academy early
Future Stars Academy I is free and takes five matches, and FUTWIZ already lists Academy II. Starting now gives you the most time for the later steps. Enrol a player you'll keep, because a card in an Evolution can't go into SBCs (EA Help). See the Future Stars Academy guide.
Fodder: save or burn?
- Burn fodder on a Future Stars SBC if you actually want that player. Espí and the EFL Championship pick both run out this week.
- Save it if you're only doing an SBC "because it's there". EA has promised more Future Stars SBCs, and Team 2 is expected on Friday.
- Keep a spread of untradeable 82+ and 83+ cards for the next round. Our Streamlined SBCs guide explains how Item Score works.
Check what it would cost to rebuild your fodder on FUTWIZ Lowest Price Ratings. We don't quote prices here because they move fast.
Buying a Future Stars card
The upgrades don't arrive until 3 February, so judge a card on what it is now, then on whether the player is a regular league starter. Build before you buy: test the card in the Squad Builder. We don't make trading calls with numbers.
Gallery: Season 1 ends on 22 October
EA says Future Stars Player Items count towards the Season 1 (Combined Rarities) Gallery Set, with Ones to Watch and Destined for Glory. EA's Season 1 ends on 22 October, so if you're building that set, see the Gallery Combined Rarities guide, the Gallery Tokens explainer and the Season Pass Level 30 guide.
Live events
- Week 1: the Back to Basics Exhibition locks you into a 4-4-2 (EA).
- Week 2: the second Ultimate Gauntlet and a new Flash Rush event, plus the PlayStyle+ Lab from 17 October (EA).
