Quick answer: a free Evolution for right-sided wingers

What is the FC 27 Wing Specialization Evolution, who can use it, and how do I finish it?

Wing Specialization is a free Evolution for right midfielders and right wingers (RM / RW). You play through three levels, and at Level 3 you choose one of three paths: finishing, speed or passing. Each level asks for two matches with your Evolution player, so you can finish it in six matches across Squad Battles, Rush, Rivals, Champions or Live Events.

Who can go in

The requirements

FUTWIZ lists four requirements for Wing Specialization:

  • Overall: 79 or lower
  • Position: RM or RW
  • Excluded positions: ST and CDM
  • PlayStyles: 7 or fewer

The PlayStyles cap is the one that catches people out. A winger who already has lots of PlayStyles may not fit, even if the Overall is fine.

Excluded positions

ST and CDM are excluded. EA hasn't said whether an ST or CDM alternative position also rules a winger out, so if yours lists either, check the Evolution screen before you plan around them.

Finding an eligible card

Open the Wing Specialization page on FUTWIZ to see the requirements and the eligible-player search together. Then look the card up on FUTWIZ Players and drop it into the Squad Builder to see where it fits. The game's Evolution screen only offers eligible cards from your club, so it's the final check.

Level by level

What counts towards each level

FUTWIZ lists the same objective on every level: play 2 matches in Squad Battles on at least Semi-Pro difficulty, or in Rush, Rivals, Champions or Live Events, using your active Evolution player.

That gives you plenty of choice:

  • Squad Battles on Semi-Pro or above is the lowest-pressure route.
  • Champions counts, so Finals matches this weekend can level the player up while you play them.
  • Rivals and Rush count too.
  • Live Events count. EA hasn't said whether the Ultimate Gauntlet and the Destined for Glory Exhibition count as Live Events here, so if you're relying on them, check the Evolution's progress after your first match.

Start your Evolution player in every match. EA hasn't said whether they need to stay on the pitch for the whole match, so to be safe, don't sub them off.

Levels 1 and 2

Level 1 brings +7 Overall, along with boosts to Sprint Speed, Balance and Composure and an extra Skill Moves star. Level 2 adds Acceleration, Agility, Reactions and Stamina. The exact amounts are on the FUTWIZ Wing Specialization page, so we won't repeat them here.

Level 3: choose your path

At Level 3, you choose one of three options. FUTWIZ's summary calls them clinical finishing, rapid speed or precise Tiki Taka play:

OptionFocusAlso adds
1. FinishingPositioning, finishing and shot power, with a little extra paceA PlayStyle
2. SpeedAcceleration, sprint speed, balance, ball control and dribblingA PlayStyle
3. PassingVision, short and long passing, strength and aggressionA PlayStyle

FUTWIZ lists the Level 3 PlayStyles as Low Driven Shot (Option 1), Rapid (Option 2) and Tiki Taka (Option 3).

How to choose: pick the option that matches how the player is used in your team, not the biggest numbers. A winger who cuts inside to shoot suits Option 1. One who beats full-backs on the outside suits Option 2. One who drifts inside to create suits Option 3. Compare the finished versions side by side on the FUTWIZ page before you lock it in.

Finishing it this weekend

Six matches is very doable over a weekend. If you're playing Champions Finals, put the Evolution player in your Finals team and let the matches count twice. If you're not, two short Squad Battles sessions on Semi-Pro will do it.

Activate it before the start-by deadline, even if you won't play straight away. Community reporting puts it at Monday 12 October, 18:00 BST.

How this fits Destined for Glory

EA says Destined for Glory brings free Evolutions over two weeks, including one Training Camp Evolution each week, plus an earnable Evolution consumable in Ultimate Gauntlet that gives you an extra repeat of an existing Evolution (Destined for Glory). EA's page doesn't name Wing Specialization, so we can't say officially whether it's one of the campaign's free Evolutions. Either way, it's free and live now.

For the Training Camp Evolution and the Gauntlet consumable, see the DFG Week 2 hub. For the new campaign cards, see the Team 2 live hub and the DFG Tracker.
