FC 27 Poor Sophia Evolution: Free Goalkeeper Upgrade to 83 OVR, Requirements and Best Picks

FC 27 Poor Sophia Evolution: the free goalkeeper upgrade to 83 OVR, who's eligible, what each level adds and how to pick the right keeper.

Published By FUTWIZ

Correct as of 20 Oct 2026, 09:14 BST (Europe/London)
Poor Sophia is a free Evolution for goalkeepers. It takes a keeper rated 81 or lower up to 83 OVR over at least four matches, adds two skill stars and a little pace, plus a PlayStyle at each level. Here's who can go in, what they come out as and how to pick one. The full upgrade table and eligible-keeper list are on the FUTWIZ Poor Sophia page; we don't print prices here.

Quick answer: a free goalkeeper Evo to 83, with skill moves and a bit of pace

What is Poor Sophia in FC 27, who can use it, and what does it give?

Poor Sophia is a free goalkeeper Evolution. It's for GKs rated 81 or lower with 7 PlayStyles or fewer and no PlayStyle+. It has two levels: play two matches, then win two. It takes the keeper up to 83 OVR, adds +2 skill stars (up to 3★), lifts Acceleration and Sprint Speed (capped at 50), and boosts the main goalkeeping stats. The Overall jump and the skill stars both come at Level 1.

Start byThursday 29 October, 18:00 GMT (FUTWIZ data)FUTWIZ

It appeared in FUTWIZ's Daily Content for Tuesday 20 October, from Monday's 18:00 BST drop. FUTWIZ's data points to a start-by deadline of Thursday 29 October at 18:00 GMT, and its hub shows about two weeks before it expires. Community reporting says you have until Thursday 5 November to finish it. UK clocks go back on Sunday 25 October, which is why these times are in GMT. Check the Evolution tile for the exact deadlines.

The in-game description, as shown on FUTWIZ: "Poor Sophia no more! A bit more pace (don't get excited, still a keeper) and extra skill moves. Enough to nutmeg the striker, then calmly jog back to goal."

Who can go in

The requirements

FUTWIZ lists four requirements:

  • Overall: 81 or lower
  • Position: GK
  • PlayStyles: 7 or fewer
  • PlayStyle+: none

The "no PlayStyle+" rule is the one that catches people out. A keeper that already has a PlayStyle+ can't go in, however low its rating.

What your keeper becomes

Both levels' upgrades

FUTWIZ shows the goalkeeping boosts under the outfield labels (Pace, Shooting, Passing, Dribbling). FUTWIZ's own eligible-keeper list puts Diving, Handling, Kicking and Reflexes in those slots, so that's how we've named them below. One boost has no label on FUTWIZ; it sits where Positioning would be, so we've called it Positioning. The cap for each is in brackets:

LevelUpgrades (cap)Task
Level 1Overall +5 (83), Skill Moves +2 (3★), PlayStyle (cap 3), Acceleration +30 (50), Reactions +6 (82), Kicking +6 (81), Reflexes +6 (84)Play 2 matches
Level 2PlayStyle (cap 3), Sprint Speed +30 (50), Diving +6 (80), Handling +6 (82), Positioning +6 (80)Win 2 matches

Matches count in Squad Battles on Semi-Pro or above, or in Rivals, Champions or Live Events, with the keeper in your active squad. FUTWIZ doesn't list Rush for this one.

The 83 OVR, the skill stars and the Reflexes boost land at Level 1, after two matches played, not won. Level 2 needs two wins, so four matches is the minimum and it can take more.

What's capped

Our reading of FUTWIZ's table is that each boost is up to the number shown and stops at the cap. We haven't confirmed that in game, so preview your keeper on the Evolution screen before you start. If it works that way:

  • Overall stops at 83. A 78 or lower gets the full +5, while an 81 gains only 2.
  • Pace only helps slow keepers. Acceleration and Sprint Speed go up by up to 30, capped at 50, so a keeper already at 50 or above gains nothing there. As the in-game text says, it's "still a keeper".
  • Goalkeeping stats stop at 80 to 84. Plenty of 80 and 81-rated keepers already sit above 80 Diving or 84 Reflexes, so they won't gain on those. The boosts matter most for keepers in the mid to high 70s.
  • Skill moves go up two stars, to 3★. Every keeper on FUTWIZ's list starts at 1★.

The PlayStyles

FUTWIZ shows one PlayStyle at each level, with a cap of 3, but doesn't name them. Community reporting says Level 1 adds Cross Claimer, and Level 2 adds Footwork, with some players also reporting Far Throw there. Check each level's screen in game. A keeper that already has one of them, or already has three or more PlayStyles, may gain less.

How to pick a keeper

What to look for

We don't rank cards with prices or meta scores. Here's a simple way to pick:

  1. Chemistry first. Pick a keeper who fits your league or nation links and will actually start.
  2. How low is the base card? The Overall cap is 83, so a 78 gains 5 while an 81 gains only 2.
  3. Few PlayStyles, no PlayStyle+. A keeper with few PlayStyles gets the most from the new ones. Check the base card on FUTWIZ Players.
  4. Where the caps bite. Compare the keeper's Diving, Reflexes and Speed with the caps above. The further below them, the more it gains.

Test the keeper in the Squad Builder before you start.

Example eligible keepers (FUTWIZ, 20 October)

These keepers were on FUTWIZ's Poor Sophia eligible list on 20 October. DIV, HAN, KIC, REF, SPD and POS are FUTWIZ's goalkeeper face stats:

Kelleher808077798251801★4★
Robert Sanchez808178788153791★3★

They're examples, not a ranking. Trubin, Szczesny and Meret start below the 80 Diving cap, so they gain there. Tzolakis already has 85 Reflexes and 58 SPD, so on our reading he gains nothing on Reflexes and little or nothing on pace. Rui Silva and Mendy are slow, so they get the most from the pace boost. The 80-rated keepers gain 3 Overall instead of 2. Use the league and nation filters on the FUTWIZ Poor Sophia page to find a keeper who fits your squad.

Can you run more than one?

FUTWIZ doesn't say whether Poor Sophia is repeatable, so plan on one keeper and check the Evolution screen in game.

Rules that catch people out

  • No SBCs mid-Evo. While a player is in an Evolution, EA Help says you can't use them in SBCs. Don't put a keeper you might need for an SBC into Poor Sophia.
  • Two clocks. Every Evo has a deadline to start it and a later deadline to finish it (EA Help).
  • Active squad only. FUTWIZ's tasks say matches only count with the Evo keeper in your active squad.

Also live now

  • Max. 87 Base Hero Upgrade: a repeatable, score-based SBC for an untradeable pack with one Base Hero rated 87 or lower. FUTWIZ's data shows it ending on Sunday 25 October at 18:00 GMT. It's on FUTWIZ SBCs, and our Max 87 Base Hero guide covers it.
  • 1 of 3 79+ Gold Player Pick: a repeatable SBC that gives one of three untradeable Gold players rated 79 or higher, until Monday 26 October at 18:00 GMT (FUTWIZ).
