Hello and welcome to the last Bundesliga Player of the Month predictions for May. Season came to an end and finish wasn’t as an exciting as whole season. At least we got some relegation drama and some UCL\UEL race.

Title was won comfortably by Bayern and BVB came comfortably 2nd, while Bayer came 3rd comfortably too. All around COMFORTABLE finish for top 3 teams. Then fun begins: Leipzig on 58 points, Union on 57, Freiburg on 55. Sadly for Freiburg, their great finish ended with 3 heartbreaking losses (2 in the league and 1 in Pokal Final). Still good season for them.

So yeah, that’s for race for 4th UCL spot. What about relegation? 2 teams were battling till the final day: Stuttgart and Hertha. Funnily enough: Stuttgart survived in 90th minute, while Hertha went to relegation play-offs. So yeah, going to be fun seeing Hertha seeing in relegations and maybe in 2nd Bundesliga.

Let’s move to main thing of the article: Nominees.

Firstly, I must say: there were 2 matches for most of the teams and nominees are a bit awkward with 2 or so goals.

Ignavartsen from Mainz was my first choice. Mainz went unbeaten and moved to 8th place by the end of the tournament and won their game vs Hertha, and drew 2-2 to Europe League winners Eintracht Frankfurt. Marcus scored 2 goals and was named MOTM. Sadly, his base card is pretty bad, his POTM would be 82 and wouldn’t even be a good fodder. So yeah, his price would be like 10k or something. Let’s move ASAP to next candidate, because no one interested in Marcus (sorry).

Next player: Julian Brandt. BVB won 2 games out of 2 and Brandt was MOTM in a game vs Greuther Furth. He scored 2 goals and was the best player on the pitch. In a game vs Hertha he was quite average, but whole BVB were average. Well, Brandt wouldn’t be a bad fodder. He scored only 2 goals, but it should be enough for nominees. 87 card if he wins – he’d be similar to his Headliner card and would be a very good SBC fodder if they’ll release him for cheap.

Then we move to actual good candidates: Sasa Kalajdzic from Stuttgart. He scored 2 goals, but they were so crucial. He scored 1 goal vs Bayern in 2-2 draw and scored 1st goal in 2-1 win over Koln. Sasa would be very deserved candidate and he sadly didn’t get any special cards this season. To be fair – this season he was injured for most part of the season. He scored 6 goals in 15 games and most of them were very crucial. If he’ll get POTM – he’d be 84 rated, so he’d be very cheap and nice fodder.

Then we’re moving to: Taiwo Anowiyi. Taiwo didn’t get any special cards this year too with 15 goals this season. I was sure he’ll get a Silver Stars TOTS, but it went differently. There’s still good shout for his POTM, as he scored 2 goals in 3-2 win over Bochum and got 1 assist in 4-1 win over Freiburg (his first assist of the season too). So yeah, another cheap and low rated POTM, but still deserved candidate. 83 rating.

2nd to last candidate: Jonas Hofmann. Borussia Monchengladbach had very good ending to a season and ended up at 10th spot (which considered alright after terrible first half of the season). Hofmann ended this season with a bang: 2 goals in 3-1 win over Leipzig and 2 goals and 1 assist in 5-1 win over Hoffenheim. Hoffie actually went on terrible streak and that’s really sad, but let’s move back to Hofmann. If he wins – he’d be 88 rated card and still would be fodder – he might have alright stats, but that won’t be enough to get into players teams. Would be like 25k or something, to be close to price of fodder.

And the last, but not least: Patrick Schick with another great month and sensational return from the injury. Goal in 2-0 win vs Frankfurt, 2 goals and 1 assist in 4-2 win vs Hoffenheim (again) and 1 assist in 2-1 win over Frankfurt. Schick came in clutch for Bayer, after many injuries to their crucial players (Wirtz, Frimpong) and got Bayer in UCL for next season. Maybe he’ll replace Lewandowski in Bayern for next season – we’ll see. Bayer will demand a lot of money for him and it’s deserved money. If he’ll win POTM – he’d be 88 rated card and would be worth same as Hofmann – 25k or something. I still have no idea how he didn’t get TOTS – he scored 24 goals in 27 games this season and was very important for them in their UCL run. Can’t explain it (apart from the fact that he’d be really cheap and wouldn’t be as exciting for players).

I think the winner should be between Hofmann and Schick, but for me – Schick should be a winner. At least some price for salvation of not getting any TOTS. Well, both would be deserved, but for me – Schick.
