Hello and welcome to Ligue 1 Player of The Month Predictions for March. It was a big month for the title and European race, with Monaco and Lille heavily reliant on their creative midfielders and wide forwards. The shortlist is dominated by technically gifted attackers who consistently delivered in high‑impact matches.

I’ll start with Aleksandr Golovin at Monaco. An 88 rated POTM would fit him perfectly as a creative CAM/wing hybrid. He produced 3 goal contributions in 3 games, all in wins: a crucial goal in a 3-1 victory over PSG, another in a 2-0 win against Brest, and an assist in a 2-1 win over Lyon. When one player is directly involved in goals in three separate victories, especially against top opposition, that always strengthens a POTM argument.

Matías Fernández at Lille also has a strong case. An 89 rated POTM would give him a very well-rounded attacking midfielder card. He matched Golovin with 3 goal contributions in 3 games: a goal in a 1-1 draw versus Lorient, then a goal and an assist in a 2-1 win over Rennes. The fact that he carried Lille’s end product in tight, low‑scoring games makes his numbers more impressive than they look at first glance.

Florian Thauvin at Lens brings the most explosive stat line of the group. A 90 rated POTM for him would likely be the most desirable purely from a FUT perspective. He delivered 4 goal contributions in 3 games: a goal in a 3-0 win over Metz, followed by 2 assists and another goal in a 5-1 win against Angers. That kind of dominance across two comfortable victories gives him perhaps the strongest purely statistical claim on the award.

Maghnes Akliouche, also at Monaco, adds an interesting twist as he shares some of Golovin’s spotlight. An 89 rated POTM would reward his breakout‑type month. He recorded 3 goal contributions in 3 matches: a goal and an assist in the 3-1 win over PSG and another goal in the 2-1 win over Lyon. Being heavily involved in both of those high‑profile victories means he directly shares responsibility for Monaco’s biggest results of the month.

From this shortlist, my top three would be Thauvin, Akliouche and Golovin. Thauvin has the standout raw numbers, Akliouche offers a strong “breakout impact in big games” narrative, and Golovin brings consistency across multiple important wins. If I had to pick one likely winner, Thauvin’s 4 g/a and a 90 rated POTM card probably give him the slight edge.
