Hello and welcome to my Ligue 1 Team of the Season so far for 2025/26. This has been a more open Ligue 1 season than many expected, with PSG still near the top but not running away with it, while Lens, Lille, Rennes and Monaco have all had players doing enough to force their way into the discussion. Angers, Brest, Lyon, Marseille and Paris FC have also had individual standouts who make the squad feel more complete, and that is what gives this season its balance. The best team of the season should reflect both the clubs fighting at the top and the players carrying sides through difficult runs, and that is exactly what this list does.

PSG are still the clear benchmark, and their best players continue to justify that. Ousmane Dembélé has been one of the main attacking threats in the league, while Vitinha has once again been the player who keeps everything moving in midfield. The numbers from the current season show PSG’s quality spread across the pitch, with goals and assists coming from several different names, but those two remain central to how they play.

Lens have probably been the most useful source of season-long balance in this list. Florian Thauvin has given them real end product from advanced areas, Adrien Thomasson has controlled the midfield well, and Samson Baidoo has brought structure and physicality at the back. When a club can get strong seasons from all three lines, it usually deserves heavy representation in a TOTS, and Lens fit that description very well.

Lille and Monaco also stand out as clubs with enough quality to supply several names. Ayyoub Bouaddi has had a proper breakout season for Lille, while Aïssa Mandi gives them experience and reliability at the back. Monaco have had strong output from both Maghnes Akliouche and Folarin Balogun, which makes them one of the more dangerous attacking sides in the division even when the performances are not perfect every week.

Rennes, Lyon, Brest, Marseille and Paris FC all add important depth to the final squad. Esteban Lepaul has been one of the more effective finishers for Rennes, Valentin Rongier has given them stability, and Pavel Šulc has offered Lyon more attacking spark from midfield. Ludovic Ajorque continues to be a reliable reference point for Brest, Aubameyang remains an important attacking name for Marseille, and Ilan Kebbal has been one of the more productive players for Paris FC.

At the back, there are also some strong practical picks. Hervé Koffi has been the kind of goalkeeper who can keep a team alive through difficult patches, while Guela Doué and Valentín Barco have both given Strasbourg good value on the flanks.
