FUT CHAMPIONS CUP INTERVIEW : FUTWIZ DUBZJE
German FIFA talent Fabian ‘Dubzje’ De Cae talked to us about his transition from an Elite 1 player to a consistent Top 100 finisher and managing to qualify for his first ever event, the hardships of competing and his thoughts on FIFA 18.
It has been an exciting start to FIFA 18 for you, how have you progressed from the outskirts of the Top 100 on FIFA 17 to finishing 49th and 28th in the World for the first two months of FIFA 18?
Dubzje: I wasn’t able to play every Weekend League due to my work, so I didn’t take it very serious last year. I have much more time now.
How long have you been taking FIFA seriously for and how did you get into competitive FIFA?
Dubzje: I only started playing competitively this FIFA. I followed the scene last year, so I’m happy that I’m a part of it now.
Moving forward, you’ve recently qualified for the first offline event on FIFA 18, what are your expectations for the event?
Dubzje: It’s my first big event, I don’t expect too much from myself. But, obviously, I want to get as far as I possibly can.
If you had to give one piece of advice for new players, what would it be?
Dubzje: Definitely never give up and always follow your dreams. One year ago I would never have expected to be in the position I am right now.
Who’s been your favourite player to use so far on FIFA 18?
Dubzje: For me, It’s definitely 90 Gullit. He is literally unstoppable.
With the current state of FIFA 18, do you find competing for enjoyable or more of a chore?
Dubzje: In my opinion FIFA 18 is a lot better than FIFA 17. Obviously, EA needs to adjust some stuff, but overall I’m happy with how the game is at the moment.
If you could make three changes to FIFA 18 what would they be?
Dubzje: Firstly, I would love for there to be no delay. Secondly, If you disconnect from the servers while in-game, you have thirty or so seconds to reconnect, Counter-Strike has a similar system. Finally, I’d get rid off all no-loss glitches.
With every single card on offer at the regional event what team are you planning on using?
Dubzje: I’m feeling confident with my current team which is:
94 R9 ST
Bale LAM – Neymar CAM – CR7 RAM
90 Gullit LDM – 88 Vieira RDM
91 Carlos LB – 90 Ferdinand LCB – 92 Maldini RCB – IF Valencia RB
IF De Gea GK
(This interview was conducted prior to Team of the Year)
How did signing for Team FUTWIZ come about?
Dubzje: Well Dan had been watching my performances watched in FIFA 18. After my 40-0 in the first week of qualifying month, I messaged him. We talked a lot to each other and one step came after another.
Do you have any shoutouts or final words?
Dubzje: Firstly, I’d like to thank Dan once again for showing faith in me and providing me with this great opportunity to represent Team FUTWIZ, I’d also of course like to thank our partners GFUEL, Turtle Beach and noblechairs.
