FIFA 21 Serie A TOTS Predictions

This Serie A season was exciting. Very exciting. First time in nearly 10 years Juve didn’t win the championship. Inter’s key to success, apart from their good team, insane duo of strikers: Lautaro and Lukaku. They are scoring for fun and they completing each other and leading Inter to first title since 2010.

Milan are back too, with a mix of youth and experience. Ibra leading the line in attack, while other lines playing well together. Pioli actually managed to transform Milan with new management. Juventus on other hand struggling. It’s not only because squad is a bit weird, it’s a complex of problems, but also they should get UCL spot.

Next up we have a battle for UCL between 4 teams. Atalanta, Napoli, Roma and Lazio. They all have a chance to be in UCL, but only 1 spot for them (unless Juve chokes harder). Roma was going strong before spring, but then had few issues and they are playing bad versus their main opponents. Lazio started season slowly, but climbing up top. This year Immobile not scoring as much as last one, but midfield working well and overall they had some troubles with playing in UCL and Serie A at the same time. Napoli had few issues in Winter, but after that they are back on track. Atalanta are still the same – fun team, very interesting squad, but had few issues with leaders, Papu Gomez left, Ilicic not playing at his best, but overall team is still good. It’ll be a success for any of those teams, if they’ll get UCL spot. Finish to the season will be very exciting.

Other than those teams – we have some interesting teams with cool playstyle like Hellas Verona and Sassuolo, but I didn’t include any TOTS from them. We’ll see if I’m wrong – but I’ll explain why. Udinese will have 1 great TOTS, because they have one very exceptional player in Rodrigo De Paul. I can talk about him for so long, he deserves top club really soon.

Bottom teams from Serie A – don’t deserve TOTS in my opinion. Not because that they are bad (while they are bad), but because no one really stands out from them.

So let’s start, as per usual, with goalkeepers.

Goalkeepers:

There aren’t a lot of options for this season. I think there mostly 3 main options. Main one is Gianluigi Donnarumma from Milan. Mister reliable for them. You think he’s near 25 years old? You’re wrong. He’s still only 22. Feels like he’s been playing forever, but he’s still young Goalkeeper. He’s having a very good season and he should be in TOTS. Yes, sometimes Milan concede more than 1 goal per game, but it’s not his fault. Sometimes Milan CBs decide to have fun, that’s why I don’t have any center-backs from Milan in my Predictions. Gianluigi had some exceptional performances this season and he should get nice TOTS.

2nd option is debatable. For me it’s Lukasz Skorupski, for some people it’s Samir Handanovic. I’ve went with Skorupski, as I’ve felt that if it wasn’t for him – Bologna would be much closer to relegation zone than they are. Bologna sitting mid table and Skorupski saved a lot of points for them. He conceded more than 1 goal per game, but we need to consider the quality of a team for that. So yeah.

Handanovic is a nice option. Inter are sitting first, but they have insane defenders. All 35 of them working well together and sometimes Handanovic doesn’t have a lot of job to do. Yes, they conceded not a lot of goals (only Juventus conceded less), but I feel like inter will have enough players anyway, that’s why I went with Donnarumma and Skorupski.

So yeah, my choice would be: Starter: Donnarumma, Bench: Skorupski, SBCObjective: Handanovic.

Defenders:

Left Back: Not a lot of left backs performed well in Serie A. Well, a lot of teams are playing with 3 at the back formation, so left backs don’t have a chance to shine, but there’s one LB who’s a leader of a team: Theo Hernandez. 4 goals and 4 assists for Theo this season, he’s having a great season, like a last year, and overall impressed a lot of people. It’s great to see him performing well, after few unlucky years in Real Madrid and loan to Real Sociedad.

Other than Theo – I don’t have an option for left back, but let’s cover Robin Gosens here too. Gosens is one of leaders of Atalanta. Mister consistent. He’s really good player, getting call ups to national team and performing at amazing level in Bergamo. He got 9 goals and 5 assists this season, you can kinda see that his job is not only covering defense, but also joining an attack and being everywhere on a pitch. One of my favorite players in Serie A.

Apart from them – honestly no one. Juventus’s Alex Sandro hasn’t had the best season, Inter playing with more attacking LM, RomaNapoli – I prefer not to speak. Lazio – kinda same, no one to mention really.

So yeah, IMO: Main squad: Theo, Bench: Gosens.

Right Backs: Same situation as Left Backs, with only Juve and Milan from top teams playing with decent full backs. Cuadrado is my number 1 choice for this position. 6 assists to his name. His transformation from winger to fullback is remarkable, people should thank Sarri for that. He’s been one of the better Juve performers in their average season and he should get nice TOTS too.

Only other option for me is Davide Calabria. Right back of Milan performed well this year, with 2 goals and 1 assist, he’s been reliable for them and overall has a chance to get SBCMoments or get on the bench of a team. Calabria progressed under new manager a lot and it’ll be cool if he’ll get recognition in TOTS.

Main squad: Cuadrado, BenchSBC: Calabria.
Central Backs: A lot of options for Center Backs. Starting with Inter duo: Milan Skriniar and Stefan De Vrij. Both been reliable for Inter and been playing well. As I’ve already mentioned – they are 2nd best defense in the league and it’s mostly because of them. Nice to see Skriniar being great again, after struggling in 1st season under Conte. He adjusted his game to 3 at the back and he’s great defender once again. De Vrij is consistently great performer for Inter. Bastoni deserves a mention too, he’s been ultra good for Inter, but I think De Vrij+Skriniar should get TOTS.

Next up I have Matthijs De Ligt. He’s been the best defender in the league this season, after struggling in 1st season there. His stats show that and Juve having the best defense in the league proves that. Only problem – he gets injured a bit too much, so that’s a minus for him. Overall, he’s still really young and I’m excited to see how good he’ll become later. Without De Ligt – Juve’s defense much worse. BUT HERE’S A TWIST. I’m not including De Ligt and I’ve decided to include Simon Kjaer instead of him. It was a last minute swap, but honestly – can’t leave Kjaer out. Felt like he was incredible for Milan and played the best with Tomori as his partner. I think he had a magnificent 2nd part of the season, Milan kept a lot of clean sheets and he also got 2 assists. I rate Kjaer a lot.

Cristian Romero from Atalanta my last choice for defender in Serie A. Last, but not the worst. Well… he’s one of the best in the league, he had numerous great performances this season, scored 2 goals, got 2 assists and became a leader of defense for Atalanta. And he’s only 22 years old! Although he belongs to Juve, I’m sure Atalanta will buy him out from them.

That’s a wrap for defenders. I don’t think anyone else should be in. Maybe Smalling, but Roma defense is like that meme with Gattuso: Sometimes great, sometimes bad. I don’t think that he deserves TOTS. Apart from him – maybe we’ll see Acerbi from Lazio, he’s been great again, but both Lazio and Roma conceded way too many goals compared to even Atalanta. Other than that – no one else should get a TOTS, imo.

Let’s move to midfielders, shall we.

Midfielders:

Central Midfielders: Another stacked position in this TOTS.

My main choices are: Frank Kessie and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. Both been leaders to their teams. SMS back to his amazing level after a bit weird season and Kessie becoming better and better every season.

Milinkovic Savic been the best player for Lazio this season, he scored 6 goals and got 8 assists. His partner in midfield – Luis Alberto – been good too, but not as his previous year. Luis Alberto scored 8 goals this season and got 0 assists (honestly couldn’t believe this stat, when I checked), so I doubt that he’ll get TOTS this season. Maybe Moments. But SMS is a must.

Kessie been a leader of Milan’s midfield. He’s been scoring penalties for them too (he’s much better at them than Ibra). Milan got a lot of pens this season. Kessie scored 9 goals, 8 of them were pens, but that doesn’t matter. He also got 3 assists and he’s been consistent and solid performer in Milan’s midfield. Partners change – Kessie stays. That’s the rule of Milan’s midfield.

Hakan Chalhanoglu is another Milan midfielder that should get into TOTS. With 2 goals and 8 assists, he’s been playing very good. Finally manager using him properly as number 10, as he played back in HSV and it’s been a massive success overall. I think Hakan nearly guaranteed to get TOTS too.

Then we have Inter duo, at first I included both Barella and Brozovic into a team, but then later replaced them with players from different teams to give more variety to the team. I think there’s a chance of them both being included (Brozo has a chance for Most Consistent team too, as he hasn’t had special cards this year). Brozovic got 1 goal and 6 assists this season, while Barella improved his game and became even better than last year and he got 3 goals and 5 assists. Both been crucial part of Inter’s success and I won’t be surprised if we’ll see one of them (or both) in TOTS.

But I’ve replaced them for 2 players from Roma and Napoli: Lorenzo Pellegrini and Piotr Zielinski. Lorenzo been the leader of Roma this season, I think he’s one of the better midfielders in the league, he got 4 goals and 6 assists, but it should’ve been much more assists. Despite Roma struggling in 2021, Lorenzo still performs at amazing level in nearly every game.

Zielinski became crucial Napoli player lately and it’s great to see that: 6 goals and 6 assists from midfield spot, he’s been the most consistent midfielder for them. Last year it was Fabian Ruiz – this year it’s time for Zielinski to be highlighted.

I think there’s a chance that both Pellegrini and Zielinski will miss out and I understand why, but one player that won’t miss on TOTS is Rodrigo De Paul from Udinese. What a player. What a midfielder. Get yourself a man who can do everything on a pitch. 6 goals, 5 assists in mediocre Udinese side – he’s one of highlights of the league and I can’t wait to see him in a good club. There were rumors that he’d go to Leeds – and him under Bielsa can become one of the better mids in the world. Also his TOTS should be good in game too. Last year it was good card.

So that’s a wrap with central midfielders, I hope I covered everyone. One wild-card choice that I have is: Locatelli from Sassuolo. He’s been great for them, alongside Berardi is a leader of the club. He’s young and promising and I’ve heard that a lot of clubs want to buy him. He got 3 goals and 1 assist and I think we might see some sort of Objective or SBC for him.

Also I have to cover Right-wingRight-mid spot.

First one is Ashraf Hakimi from Inter. I could cover him under “Right-Back” spot, but he’s somewhat midfielder (similar to Gosens), so he’s here. Hakimi’s transfer is a massive success for Inter. He’s perfect Conte’s player and overall very great player. At first he had his troubles in Serie A, but then he adjusted his game and became great, like he was in BVB. 6 goals and 4 assists for him, multiple special cards. I only wanted him to be RWB, so people would be able to fit him in a team more often. That’s all. He’s 100% getting TOTS.

Other right winger that is an option for TOT is Domenico Berardi. I think he’ll get a similar card to Boga from last year. He got 11 goals and 4 assists. Still leader of Sassuolo, as I’ve mentioned before and should get some sort of a card. I didn’t want to include him at the first time, but after few thoughts decided to remove some players to make a spot for him.

On the left, apart from Gosens – only 1 player deserves TOTS imo: Lorenzo Insigne from Napoli. Captain of Napoli side, he scored 13 goals and got 4 assists this season and it’s nearly nailed on that he’ll get TOTS. Already a living legend of Napoli and probably will become one of the best in history of the club (if he didn’t become yet).

No other winger deserves recognition this season, in my opinion, but I may be wrong. Again – if you have some candidates – let’s discuss it with me!

That were 3 starters, now let’s move to benchreservesetc.

Now let’s move to really fun part of the team.

Stikers.
A lot of options this season, but I’m starting with Mkhitaryan from Roma. I don’t know what position he’ll be in TOTS, so I placed him as CF, as his Headliner. He played everywhere in attack, but for sure he deserves TOTS. 9 goals and 8 assists, what a season for him, even tho he dropped off a bit lately (as a whole Roma), but still should get nice TOTS card.

Honorable mention in this category will be Andrea Belotti. Belotti still plays for Torino, it feels like it’s been ages since his Serie A debut and he’s still scoring goals: 11 goals and 5 assists. I think he’s the main reason for Torino’s survival (if they’ll survive).

I’m not including Ciro Immobile. Maybe for some people it’s a strange move, but I think he didn’t do enough compared to other players. It’s possible that we’ll get his SBC or even TOTS, as 14 goals and 4 assists are a lot, I agree, but… compared to last year it’s been a big drop off, IMO.

Now let’s move to main options: Luis Muriel from Atalanta is my first candidate: 16 goals and 7 assists this season. Muriel is online and he’s dangerous in attack. At one point of the season he had the best goal scoring rate in Europe in 2021. It changed a bit, but still Muriel is amazing this season and will get an amazing TOTS.

Next on the list is Ibrahimovic. Zlatan is still Zlatan, even when he’s 39 years old. What should I say: 15 goals, 1 assist and 3 missed penalties (it’s a joke, don’t mind me). Great season for Ibra, even with injuries – he’s performing well and we should respect that in his age. Maybe he won’t get TOTS, but will get some sort of Flashback card.

Speaking about performing well in age: Cristiano Ronaldo. Obviously it’s him. 23 goals and 3 assists for him this season. He’s carrying Juve’s attack and of course he’ll get TOTS. Not sure if it’ll be higher rated than TOTY (IMO it shouldn’t).

I didn’t find space for Dusan Vlahovic, but he probably will get some sort of a card. He’s had a great season for Fiorentina with 21 goal in 36 games and overall he’s the reason they survived. I just couldn’t find space for him. Well, actually… I think there’s a chance Ibra will get excluded and we’ll see Vlahovic get a card. It would be a deserved TOTS.

And the last, but not least important we have Inter duo: Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez. I’ll cover them together, as it’s hard to imagine them separately. Lukaku got 19 goals and 8 assists, Lautaro got 14 goals and 5 assists to his name. Lautaro somehow got the most IFs from Serie A, he’s been getting them randomly for 1 goals or assist, so he’ll get really juiced TOTS. Of course both will get TOTS and both will be fun to use.

So that’s a wrap for Serie A TOTS Predictions. I hope that I’ll get somewhat close to real TOTS, I think I explained most of players and gave a lot of reasoning why I included this or that player, so we’ll see what will happen.

It’s hard to choose only 23 players, but we’ll get some ObjectivesSBCs cards, so don’t worry, even if I missed someone – he still has a chance to get TOTS.

If you’ll disagree with me – it’s fine. I’ll hear everyone out. We’ll discuss everything too, as per usual!

I tried to be as unbiased as possible and tried to include players from different teams to make fans happier.

Hopefully this year TOTS will be good!
