How often do Manchester City, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona AND Real Madrid all fail to win over the course of a weekend? Incredible! Credit where credit is due to the sides that kept these European giants at bay, and most are represented in my prediction this week. Any of about five players from Tottenham Hotspur could make it into TOTW3 after they beat Manchester City 2-0, however I’ve opted for Victor Wanyama, who bossed the midfield in the absence of Moussa Dembele and Eric Dier, and was duly named as the Man of the Match.
Bayer Leverkusen did a job on free-scoring Borussia Dortmund as they also registered a 2-0 home win. Defenders Benjamin Henrichs and Jonathan Tah were on fine form for Leverkusen, however I’ve opted for free-kick specialist Hakan Calhanoglu, who assisted both of the goals.
Finally, Luis Enrique’s poor run against Celta Vigo continued as Barcelona’s trip to north-west Spain ended in defeat. They came close to snatching a point thanks to Pique’s brace, however the likes of Pablo Hernandez and, in particular, Iago Aspas had done the damage, the latter scoring once and assisting another as Celta won a thrilling game 4-3.
